Using the DC1000A DC Current Bias Supply with HP, Keysight, Wayne Kerr, Chroma and any other LCR meter
Testing core saturation on inductors and transformers made simple.
If you are testing in development, and need to understand BH curve saturation response, or just need to confirm and maintain quality of production then output the DC1000 gives you the answer.
The unique, patent-pending design of the DC1000A Bias Supply allows it to work with any LCR meter.
With its superior performance and ease of connection the DC1000A provides LCR meter users with a simple solution for adding DC Bias capability to any LCR test system.
The Flexible DC1000A
- - Easy to connect and operate, be up and running in minutes.
- - Manual or remote programming
- - Best accuracy DC current and LCR measurement!
- - The DC1000A is compatible with any LCR meter including
- - Wayne Kerr 3255, 3260 LCR meters
- - Chroma 11021, 11022, 1061, 1062, 1075 LCR meters
For the E4980AL, it is important to have the HI/LO polarity of the DC1000 leads the same as the HI LO polarity of the LCR leads.
It is also critical that on the E4980AL that under MEASURE SET UP that DCI-ISO is set to ON.
In this example, we have tested a Murata inductor, (1430430C - Inductor, 300 µH, 3 A, 0.14 ohm, ± 10%), the measurements were performed using a Keysight E4980AL LCR meter to record the series inductance (at 1 kHz, 0.1 V AC), as we apply varying DC Bias provided by the DC1000A. (0-10A in 0.5A steps)
An Earth lead was used to connect the LCR and DC for best noise reduction (see picture) and the DC and LCR were both connected across the inductor (see below)
The results were plotted below.
We can see that the inductance holds up under DC bias above the published specified 3Amps, and in fact only exceeds spec at around 5 Amps
