PM1000+ Pre-compliance Harmonics and Flicker
Until today, the accurate measurement of harmonics and
flicker for ‘CE’ marking of products has been the domain of expensively equipped
EMC labs. The Harmonics and Flicker measuring option for the Voltech PM1000+ power
analyzer is a revolution in the way these measurements will be made. For the first
time engineers designing and testing electrical products will have a simple, cost-effective
measurement solution that allows them to quality their designs at every stage of
development, significantly reducing time-to-market and avoiding expensive EMC lab
re-test.
Using
algorithms from the certified PM6000 power analyzer (as used by leading EMC labs)
the PM1000+ analyzer provides the same measurements in one cost effective benchtop
instrument. The results are obtained using proprietary software in the analyzer
and processed and presented by pc software. The software configures the instrument
automatically and provides detailed diagnostic results just like those from an EMC
lab, showing results against the limits of IEC61000-3-2 and
IEC61000-3-3.

PM1000+ Single-Phase Measurements
At first glance, making single phase measurements should be simple. Every wall socket
is a single ac source. Every household appliance connected to the mains draws on
this single phase ac current.
If the load is a simple resistive load such as a heater that is on continuously,
then making measurements on that current is straightforward. However, more and more
equipment now draws very complex current from the ac supply, so measurement becomes
more challenging.
Sometimes the current is drawn in bursts, sometimes it can be highly distorted and
have a high crest factor. Sometimes measurements need to be made in the presence
of common mode. Making accurate measurements in these situations requires care.
The PM1000+ power analyzer is ideal for making single-phase measurements.
The PM1000+ power analyzer, together with the universal connection “breakout” box
and PC software provide the complete solution for all standby measurements in one

PM1000+ Lighting Ballast Measurements
For a power analyzer of its type, the PM1000+ is unique in being equipped to make
high-frequency ballast output power measurements as well as measurements on the
