Hello,
I am currently attempting to test a toroidal transformer's insulation resistance (I.R) using the AT3600. The testing is preformed at 500V with a minimum resistance of 1 GigaOhm, The AT3600 has been through the S/C & O/C compensate and the transformer in question has been tested using handheld I.R meters which passes but when connected to the AT3600 via Voltech Kelvin clips it is failing.
Please can you advise anything to resolve this issue.
Many thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,
In order to help here I'm going to have to ask some questions as follows: Can you let me know the IR value that your handheld is giving, and the value the AT3600 is giving please? What is the test limit (I guess minimum) IR value that you accept? If you measure IR without the part fitted (i.e. run an IR test from the editor, compensate, then measure but don't fit the part) what do you measure?
Thanks for using the forum, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards,
Tim.

Hi Tim,
You are correct, the test limit is a minimum of 1GOhm.
All 3 of our handheld IR meters are measuring the resistance greater than 4GOhm.
Running the IR test from the editor has given a resistance value of 19.68GOhms
Many thanks
Rob

Hi Rob,
That's great. It shows that the AT3600 is also measuring it correctly. Do you know how to proceed now with running and compensating the test program? Let me know if you need any more help.
Best regards,
Tim.
