When using the Editor software why is it not possible to open the serial port and I get the message “Unable to read the list of valid commands from AT”?
Please note the following steps when setting up RS232 communications from the Editor to the AT3600 or ATi:
1. When installing an RS232 PC card or using a USB to RS232 adapter check for a valid PC COM port number allocation in control panel - hardware.
2. Communication is set-up under the Set-up Menu, the user selects the allocated COM port here.
3. The Editor software automatically recognizes available COM ports for selection by the user.
If the chosen COM port is reserved by another Windows application an error message will appear.
You should select another port.
4. Please note that the PC to AT3600/ATi RS232 lead is a straight cable, not a Null Modem cable. Voltech part # 77-015
If an error message is seen “Unable to read the list of valid commands from AT” this indicates that RS232 communications has failed between the PC and AT 3600/ATi.
These steps also apply to the Server software, although the RS232 lead will be different (AT3600 server port is 25 Way)
