What is the reason for variation in RLS and should offset or compensation be used?
RLS variation may be due to the following:
1. The AT3600 spring probes should provide a good multipoint contact, if you suspect that they may have lost the spring force it may be advisable to have them replaced.
2. The RLS value is at the low end and compensation will be very important.
3. Check the power ON and front panel self test on the AT3600. If there is drift in the source the AT3600 source this may cause a problem, however this is usually found in the self test.
4. Check that test conditions are within the Voltech recommended range stated in the User Manual section 7, use test conditions as for LS and LP.
To provide the most accurate test result compensation should be performed. It should not be necessary to use as an offset for negating the non compensated Kelvin impedance, the offset option in a test program is for conditions where the user has a special need to apply an offset.
