How do you do Hi-pot testing of EMC Filters?
The AT3600 can test multiple parameters on ac EMC filters - L, C, R and safety tests such as AC Hi-pot.
On large filters (say greater than 10A), there may be a relatively large value capacitor between live/neutral and ground that may cause AC Hi-pot tests to fail.
DC Hi-pot can be used instead, but beware this could leave the filter capacitors charged after the test is finished. The AT3600 will report 'Vpres' errors in this condition, and there is the risk of operator shock and injury.
Should this possibility occur, please ensure that the capacitor is fully discharged after a test either by manually shorting the capacitor after the test or using an OUT test controlling a relay to perform this short.
