Automatic pre-test check of correct connection of item under test
Over the course of running many batches of parts, the Kelvin connections could potentially become contaminated with debris, varnish, or could be simply misaligned when a specific part is loaded.
The new pre-test of the connections provides a useful validation that the component is fitted properly, before any testing commences, which in turn provides the best confidence in the following testing.
The Pre-test Kelvin check verifies that there is continuity between the power and sense lines for all nodes that are used in the test program.
It also provides the same check before compensation, to make sure the compensation applied (for all later tests in a batch) is not bad, due to accidental bad connections during compensation.

Voltech today announces the DC1000A precision DC bias solution for magnetic and wound component testing.
Offering up to ten times the accuracy of our existing solutions, the DC1000A is the only product of its type that can be integrated into production testing environments alongside instrumentation from any major manufacturer.
DC bias sources are essential for production-line testing of a broad range of electronic components and assemblies, allowing them to be exercised under real-world operating conditions. To satisfy the often-substantial current requirements in such applications, the DC1000A offers high (25A) output capabilities, with the additional facility to use several units in parallel to deliver up to 500 A.
Enabling LCR (inductance-capacitance-resistance) measurements to an accuracy of 0.01 µA/mV, with precisely controlled current (down to ±0.5% of current reading ±25 mA) and featuring a dynamic range of 20Hz – 3MHz, the DC1000A is ideally suited not only for manufacturing test environments, but also for accurate characterization of wound component specifications in the design phase.
Though compatible with any LCR meter, the DC1000A is optimized for use in combination with Voltech’s own AT-Series testers – the industry’s most deployed automatic magnetics testers. Delivering ten times the throughput of manual test strategies, AT Series testers allow you to perform any combination of tests on any magnetic component via a single test station.

Voltech today launched the AT5600, a new universal test platform for magnetic devices.
The AT5600 enables automated testing of any magnetic component, with double the test throughput and double the test accuracy of our previous solutions.
Voltech has a 20-year pedigree in wound component testing: its existing AT3600 product is the industry’s most deployed wound component test solution. The new AT5600 retains physical and software compatibility with that extensive installed base, while offering new features that enable component manufacturers, OEMs and CEMs to cost-effectively deliver innovation, quality and product reliability.
Uniquely in the industry, a single Voltech tester can perform all the tests required for any application, and for any wound component type. Standard tests include ‘Hipot’, surge, turns ratio and magnetising current; component types range from signal transformers and filters to power conversion transformers.
The new tester allows 100% testing at real operating voltages to confirm electrical performance and integrity of mechanical assembly, for safety-critical applications and reduced field failures.
It includes a test-on-fail feature that substantially reduces time required for tests such as Hipot, and an audit test function that tests a sample percentage of components more rigorously, flexibly integrating quality assurance into the manufacturing flow.
