Where Used

TRIM is used on transformers with adjustable or variable components where it is desirable to adjust the transformer at various points within the test program to give specific measured values.

The Trimming Adjustment is placed within the program immediately after a test for the value to be adjusted. It is only actioned if the transformer fails that particular test.

e.g. To trim the inductance of a particular transformer to a specific value, then include TRIM test immediately following an inductance test.

Trimming adjustment can be used with any small signal test such as resistance, inductance and capacitance.

There is no trimming facility for high voltage tests such as MAGI and HIPOT.

Test Limits

Although the TRIM test itself does not have any user specified limits, the Trimming adjustment is carried out using the same test limits as set for the preceding test.
