Current Transformers Back To Applications
The AT3600 is ideal for testing current transformers because it contains an AC source that will generate a programmable constant ac current to energize the CT while the AT3600 measures the open circuit voltage.
Tests up to 270V, 2A can be conducted as standard with the AT3600 or up to 600V, 10A with the AC Interface.
For higher VA testing an external source can be connected and directly controlled by the AT3600.
Test Requirements
- Standards such as IEC60404-2 are that measurements of core losses are made under constant AC current test conditions.
- Voltages are often measured as a rectified mean (not rms).
- Ideally, current transformers will also be tested with constant AC current drive.
Test Options and Solutions
- Constant current is fully programmable for amplitude and frequency
- Simultaneous measurement of rms or rectified mean (rms scaled) voltage
- Current carefully ramped up and down under software control for optimum speed.
- DC resistance, inductance, leakage inductance and Q measurements built in!
- AC interface allows primary currents of up to 10A with a simple step-down transformer.
