Voltech power analyzers allow engineers to make accurate measurements at all design
levels. At the system (equipment) level, electrical measurements are made of electrical
supply power disruptions such as harmonics and flicker, performance parameters such
as power factor and efficiency which are important for improving efficiency and
overall performance. At the module level (Printed Circuit Board) tests are likely
to include power consumption for various power supplies to the PCB or assembly.
Electronic modules have complex current waveforms, which are difficult to measure
and analyze. Current typically ranges from milliamps to amps. As an added benefit,
harmonic voltage analysis will help to characterize the quality of decoupling on
the PCB. At the component level (semiconductor/passive) tests will be similar to
tests at the module level with the exception that measured levels are likely to
be lower in current especially for standby/sleep currents which maybe in the microamp
range. It is extremely important for designers to have an accurate view of complex
current consumption waveforms and digital sampling of these waveforms is the only
